Chemical facial peels

WHAT IS A PROFESSIONAL PEEL?
A professional peel is the application of varying concentrations of glycolic acid to the skin by a professional skin therapist for a short period of time (3-5 minutes). The entire treatment is 90 minutes.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A PEEL?
Peel benefits include:rejuvenated skin by means of deeply exfoliating the top layer of dead skin cells and stimulating cellular renewal. After a series of peels the skin will be revitalized, younger and healthier looking. AHA peels have been shown to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, lighten dark (age) spots and acne scarring for a more even skin tone and smooth and softer texture. Glycolic peels have shown extreme benefit for oily and acne prone skin. It is important to discuss your skin concerns with your professional skin care provider who will determine if a series of peels is right for you. Peels are for women, men and teens- anyone who wants healthy, glowing skin.

HOW OFTEN CAN I GET A PEEL AND WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
A series of peels should be done bi-weekly (typically) for 5-6 peels. With each peel the time the product is left on the skin will increase and/or the strength will increase. This allows a gradual treatment step-up to allow the maximum benefit as the skin develops a tolerance for the peel. This can continue up to 12 treatments over a 6 month period. Afterwards, regular maintenance facial peels every 4-6 weeks is recommended.
You can expect a tingly or prickly sensation similar to a sunburn when the peel is applied, little if any redness after the treatment. After the whole process is completed, the skin may have a pinkish flush tone, and although it will be sensitive it will feel incredibly soft and refreshed.

IS THERE POST PEEL CARE?
Post peel care is a simple but an important step in the evening portion of a clients home regimen on the day of a peel. After a peel, wait a minimum of 6 hours before applying makeup if possible. Some clients may experience stinging and irritation for several days following a peel, depending on strength. Excessive sunlight should be avoided for a minimum of 72 hours and preferably up to one week.

IS THERE DAILY MAINTENANCE?
The continual (daily) use of Quannessence home products is very important to ensure maximum results are obtained. Typically this consists of a cleanser, exfoliant, serum, moisturizer and masque.

What to Expect from a Professional Pedicure

Step #1 – Soak

The first step of pedicures for men is a good spa soak. A gentle cleanser is used to clean and soften the skin for easier care during treatment. The spa bath also works to help kick-start blood flow, improving circulation in the ankles and lower legs. This can help to reduce pain or swelling from standing all day, ill-fitting footwear or painful conditions, such as corns or calluses.

Step #2 – Trimming

The next step is a good trimming of your nails to prevent breaking and splitting through normal wear and tear. Cold weather and hours spent in work shoes can actually dry your skin and nails, making them brittle and even painful. This can ultimately lead to an infection if not properly cared for and treated. Your professional technician will inspect your feet for any issues and help you to discretely address them.

Step #3 – Massage

A professional foot and lower leg massage is the next step in the process. This will help to loosen muscles that are tight and tense, improving joint performance and decreasing muscle pain.

Step #4 – Moisturize

The final step is the application of a high quality moisturizer to help keep your feet, nails and cuticles properly hydrated. This part of the process is extremely beneficial all year round. In the drier, winter months and during the summer when flip-flops and sandals become the norm. No matter what time of year, you owe it to yourself to explore the benefits of pedicure.
